In an effort to fortify the U.S. Navy’s training processes and procedures for sailors, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Japan District turned to RS&H, as part of a joint venture (JV), to develop a full design package for a new Ship Handling and Combat Training Facility (SHCTF) at Command Fleet Activities (CFA) Yokosuka.
Hangar B751 at Patrick Space Force Base (SFB) supports two Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) squadrons in their short- and long-term missions to maintain HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters and MC-130 aircraft.
RS&H led development of the Customer Criteria Documents (CCD), including preliminary building layouts, and validated the cost estimate for a new 62,000-square-foot Squadron Operations Facility. Upon completion of the CCD, RS&H provided multidiscipline architecture and engineering design services for this new facility.
RS&H designed an outdoor bicycle skills course that provides a safe environment for users to learn and become comfortable with the variety of bicycle lanes incorporated throughout the city.

When the Air Force needed its first new F-22 facilities in more than a decade as part of the permanent relocation of the F-22 Raptor Formal Training Unit (FTU) mission from Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB), FL, to Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE), VA, it trusted RS&H to lead the design as part of a joint venture (JV).
Building upon the success of the ground-up Advanced Development and Manufacturing Facility completed a few years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic outset, RS&H was tasked with expanding the existing facility.
This project involved the complete reconstruction of I-4, including the construction of 144 new bridges, major upgrades to 15 urban interchanges, new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) within the FDOT right-of-way, and 21 miles of new tolled express lanes, two eastbound and two westbound.
The newly renovated facility truly services warriors' needs, providing vaccinations for American soldiers and research capabilities to address any disease that may surface in the field.
The facility required a flexible design that would allow emergency access rights to the Department of Defense should they need to take over the facility to produce potential vaccines and treatment for the military forces at a rapid, long scale.
RS&H is providing design services for the I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes project, which is being completed through the construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC) delivery method.
