[Jacksonville, Fla.] – RS&H is pleased to announce that Steven Starnes, PE, has joined the national engineering, architecture, and consulting firm as a senior principal bridge engineer. Starnes will support RS&H’s bridge service group on a variety of highway bridge engineering projects and provide expertise in major organizational pursuits.

With over 27 years of bridge design and management experience, Starnes is well positioned to lead and innovate. His journey with RS&H began in 2012 as a principal bridge engineer, serving as engineer-of-record and technical lead on numerous complex bridge projects. During his previous tenure, Starnes also served as project manager for the City of Jacksonville’s Miscellaneous Dredge and Waterways project, assisting in securing a second six-year contract for the task-work order project. His other notable projects include collaborations with multiple Florida Department of Transportation districts and various city municipalities.

“Steven’s return marks a significant milestone for RS&H,” said Ryan Vasile, PE, DBIA, Associate Vice President, East Region Bridge Leader at RS&H. “His vast experience and leadership in bridge engineering are invaluable assets to our team.”

Returning to RS&H after a period away, Starnes brings a wealth of experience in leadership and complex bridge design to his new role. This expertise will be instrumental in delivering innovative solutions for RS&H’s clients and ensuring exceptional project outcomes as the firm expands.

Starnes graduated from the University of Texas, where he received his Master of Science in Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in Florida, Georgia, and Colorado. Starnes is also a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the American Council of Engineering Companies Florida Transportation Structures Subcommittee.

When asked what drew him back to RS&H, Starnes said, “The quality of the people, from top to bottom, is what inspired me to return. That, and the fact that I have the privilege to work on projects that have such a positive impact on the communities that we live in. RS&H is like no other, in that respect.”
