RS&H was honored with the Group Achievement Award from NASA for our work on the Mobile Launcher at Kennedy Space Center. As the most prestigious honor, this award is given to teams who have distinguished themselves by making outstanding contributions to NASA’s mission.

The Space Launch System (SLS) is NASA’s current mission, which revolves around a heavy launch vehicle that will ultimately lift astronauts and hardware to beyond low earth orbit destinations, such as Mars. Our team provided design modification necessary to strengthen the new Mobile Launcher to support the new SLS rocket. We designed the ground support equipment installation, which will integrate more than 35 mechanical, electrical, communication, and fluid systems on the Mobile Launcher to support future launches.

This complicated installation design was performed at the same time as the ground support equipment systems were under design. In addition, our team was able to maintain NASA’s schedule that reduced the original design schedule from one-and-a-half years to one year.
